Mental health first aid courses from Train2Protect are designed to help you to take a proactive approach to dealing with mental health issues in the workplace? Our nationally accredited or bespoke courses can help you and your staff to recognise the common symptoms and how to act upon them?

According to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, almost 1 in 3 people will be struck by mental health problems whilst in employment. Mental health problems are the single largest cause of disability in the UK.

The economic and social cost of mental health problems in the UK, amounts to more than £100 billion every year. It is the number one cause of sickness absence, with around 70 million work days lost.

Individuals often hide mental health condition due to stigma and fear of discrimination. Research has shown that a culture of fear and silence around mental health, is costly to employers. The work place is recognised as the biggest cause of stress. This can stop people performing at their best, reducing productivity and potentially leading to more serious mental health and even physical health issues.

The HSE guidance on ‘First Aid needs assessment’ makes reference to the possible need for first aid training courses covering mental health in the workplace.
