Since 1st October 2021 anyone applying to renew their Door Supervisor license with the SIA, is required to complete a 2 day top up training course to refresh their skills and learn new ones.

What’s included in the SIA Top Up training for Door Supervisors

  • use of equipment
  • updated terror threat awareness
  • physical intervention skills refresher training (knowledge and practical)
  • knowledge around critical incidents eg. where to access government guidance on pandemic responses

In addition to the above, all SIA Door Supervisors are now required to have a valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate or equivalent PRIOR to attending Top up training. If you need First Aid training, then please click here to book the 3 day top up course.

All courses are run at our Rochester training centre unless otherwise stated.

Entry Requirements:

The SIA requires training centres to confirm that learners are sufficiently qualified in First Aid and have attended Terror Threat Awareness training.

On arrival and prior to any training taking place, learners will need to show proof that they hold valid certificates in the following:

  1. First Aid – A current and valid First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work or equivalent certificate that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and it must have at least 12 months left prior to expiry.
  2. Terror Threat Awareness – A valid ACT Awareness Certificate. This is a free online course which can be accessed here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/act-awareness-elearning
