AED’s and AED Accessories

AED’s or Automated Electronic Defibrillators are for use in the event of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)

Invented in the mid-1960s  in Northern Ireland, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that is designed to automatically diagnose and attempt to correct life-threatening Ventricular Fibrullation (VF), this is where the heart is out of step and quivers like a jelly,  or Ventricullar Tachycardia (VT) where the heart beats to fast too effectively pump blood around the body.

Use of an AED, defibrillates the heart through the application of electricity which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm.

AEDs are designed to  guide users through the process with simple audio and visual commands, AEDs are designed to be simple to use for the layperson, and the use of AEDs is now part of the first aid at work course.

Some AED’s now incorporate CPR monitors and more.

AED Training Units

AED Training units or trainers are used to simulate the actions of real AEDs. Training units can be generic or can be non functioning replicas of real AEDs.
